* 2022 Lifeguard Training Review Course - (Re-certification) * Successful completion of this course will update all (Lifeguard Training - First Aid - CPR/AED) American Red Cross certifications. Reminder: Lifeguard Training and First Aid is good for 2 years and CPR/AED is good for the 1 year (to maintain life guarding).

Course Location: Home residence in Suffern, NY with possible use of North Rockland HS and/or Camp Ramaquois

. In-Water Skills (read your LGT Manual to review) - Always for the first hour and half of each day. We will review and practice (All entries (easy in, stride, compact, and shallow dive), approaches (free and breast with tube under chest and trailing from front and rear), rescues (reaching, swimming front, front & rear active, front & rear passive, submerged shallow and deep, spinal shallow and deep, submerged spinal, shallow and deep back boarding, multiple victim, front & rear escapes, and feet first & head first dives. * That's 4 skills requiring you getting to the bottom of the pool *
. First Aid Skills (read-read-read your LGT Manual for all the Sudden Illnesses) - We do the controlling bleeding roller bandage skill, rolling a victim, and dry-land spinal management. The bulk of First Aide is obtained from reading for your LGT manual.
. CPR/AED Skills (....again, read-read-read from your LGT Manual) - We will review and practice Obstructed Airway (conscious & unconscious), Rescue Breathing, and CPR for the Infant, Child, and Adult). Including AED, BVM, and spinal injury skills.

LIFEGUARDING RECERTIFICATIONS
This is an American Red Cross Certification Course..... Upon completion, participants will be recertified in: Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED
* YOU MUST BRING: Copy of your last certifications, Pocket Masks (new protocol requires both Adult and Pediatric maska - I will provide you with information of how to get the masks).
Certification Requirement: All skills (including the pre-test swim evaluations) and written tests must be satisfactorily completed in order to be eligible for certification.
~ In-Water practice - You are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to get some in-water practice (see practice schedule below).
~ LGT Pre-test (See below) All are required to successfully complete the LGT pre-course in-water skills (see below for pre-test information)
~ Written Exams - All are required to successfully obtain a minimum grade of 80. I strongly suggest reading from your LGT Manual.

SWIM PRE-TEST * Must be completed before the end of the recertification course. I suggest doing prior to the start of the course * *** GOGGLES CAN ONLY BE WORN FOR the endurance swims *** (1) 300 yd. (550 yds. for Waterfront) swim continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing while using the front crawl (freestyle). Candidates may also use breaststroke and/or combination of front crawl and breaststroke. (2) Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands....
(3) Sprint 20yds., retrieve brick from bottom and return 20yds. (timed - 1:40 seconds max.) (4 - Waterfront Only) Swim 5 yds., submerge and retrieve 3 objects placed approx. 5 yds. apart in water 4-7 ft. deep, resurface and swim approx. 5 yds. to the side of the pool.
